An academic alert is a flag raised by an instructor or advisor to signal a student might be struggling in class. It's not a punishment, but a way to get the student help early on. By triggering support services, academic alerts can help students get back on track and succeed in their studies.

NOTE: All alerts will automatically close after 14 days.

Manual Alerts

Faculty or staff can initiate an alert at any time to address any academic or personal concerns regarding a student.

Who is Notified?

  • Education Navigator
  • Faculty Advisor

Action Taken:

Education Navigator will:

  • Contact the student within one business day
  • Document outreach efforts by making a note in the alert
  • Close the alert

Faculty Advisor is:

  • Welcome to reach out to the student. Document any outreach in the alert.

Low Grade Alerts

Scheduled at different intervals throughout the semester.

Who is Notified?

  • Education Navigator
  • Faculty Advisor
  • Student

Action Taken:

Education Navigator will:

  • Contact students who have a 70 or below in two or more courses within seven business days
  • Document outreach efforts by making a note in the alert
  • Close the alert

Faculty Advisor is:

  • Welcome to reach out to the student. Document any outreach in the alert.

Positive Grade Alerts

Scheduled at different intervals throughout the semester.

Who is Notified?

  • Student receives a message for attaining an 80% or higher cumulative grade, acknowledging their academic dedication.

Attendance Alerts

Scheduled exclusively during the initial week of classes.

Who is Notified?

  • Student
  • Education Navigator
  • Faculty Advisor

Action Taken:

  • Education Navigator and Faculty Advisor are welcome to reach out to the student. Document any outreach in the alert.
