The TRiO Upward Bound programs at Central Carolina Community College help provide the skills and motivation necessary for selected high school students to enter and succeed in a college program after high school. We serve 60 high school students in Lee County with a Classic Upward Bound program and 122 high school students in Harnett County with a Classic program and a Math & Science program, which is geared toward students interested in a STEM career.

In the Upward Bound programs, participants are able to visit colleges throughout the country, gain valuable hands-on job shadowing experience, participate in a residential college experience, and have additional guidance and support as they navigate their high school education. We work with students throughout the school year and during a six-week summer program each year of their high school journey.

Upward Bound is free for participants thanks to grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, participants may earn stipend credit for completed activities.
